Getting the Music project back on track in March/April! Fulfillment happening in the Fall!!

Howdy folks!

I know, I know, I know, the Music project has been super late and it's really cheeky of me to share a new Kickstarter campaign but this is exactly the kind of thing that helps everything around The Few and Cursed.

Before I talk about Hidden Away let me share some good news about the fulfillment of this campaign, of the Music and Audio Book projects.

GETTING BACK ON TRACK IN THE NEXT SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS

The last Update I shared with you back in October was gloomy and disappointing, I felt bad about it, I was disheartened this project wasn't moving forward as I had hoped. But I had just started working on a bold solution I wasn't sure was going to work out.

Now that we're moving on to the final stages (sorry, can't announce it yet!) I'm confident to say we're gearing up to get production on both the music album and the audio books back at full speed. 

When the time is right I will announce what I've been working on but what's important for you to know is that it impacts this fulfillment first-hand and things are progressing VERY WELL to the point I'm confident to say we will be back at a sound studio in the next eight weeks.

I'm not ready yet to share new fulfillment dates because we still need to deal with a number of aspects outside the actual production - most importantly securing a place at the vinyl pressing plant and because there aren't that many they are usually pretty busy.

But I see a light at the end of the tunnel and we are shooting for a Fall fulfillment. That truly is exciting to me.  

I can't say enough how challenging it is to produce a music album and audio book. I'm learning as I go, making mistakes along the way, but it is a tremendous opportunity and I thank you all for it, truly. When all is said and done we will look back and be really proud of what we accomplished together and it all started right here on Kickstarter.

In retrospect I should have prepared better for such a new and challenging project but everything is experience and I certainly learned a lot since then. Even though I understand how frustrating it is to deal with the tardiness please know that I have big BIG plans for TFAC universe and this whole experience was eye-opening. Moving forward to other projects will certainly be done different...

I cannot thank you enough for your support, patience and understanding. I got nothing but kind and encouraging words every time I came here to share tough news. THANK YOU :)

THE FEW AND CURSED: HIDDEN AWAY

The latest graphic novel to hit Kickstarter from The Few and Cursed universe is my most personal one to date. I packed pretty much everything I love from movies, comics and books into this one adventurous one-shot graphic novel.

Hidden Away is the story of a group of kids that go off in the greatest adventure of their lives when they decide to explore the deep ends of the water mines in Vale Springs.

Of course they come across mysteries, monsters & curses!

I have been having a blast with the script, it's almost as if the kids write themselves each having their very own distinctive voice. Also, this is a story with beginning, middle and end, it's a one-shot meaning you don't necessarily need to have read anything else from TFAC universe.

You can enjoy it on its' own :D

We've been online for a couple of weeks now and after funding on Day 1 we've been chasing and hitting Stretch Goals left and right! We're about $200 shy from our next one and perhaps some of you will feel comfortable enough to jump on it.

I know I am asking a lot sharing a new Kickstarter campaign but I also know that a lot of you are past backers and familiar with my track record. I've always fulfilled my campaigns no matter what, no matter how late.

THE AUDIOBOOKS & MUSIC NEWS

Things continue to be on the hush-hush side. While we had progress on production of the audiobooks there isn't much I can share yet. I did spend last weekend with Mark Miller and we had some pretty interesting conversations. He was at San Diego Comic Con helping us man our booth :D

Mark is the owner of Encyclopocalypse Publications and main honcho overseeing the audio books, you can check out his previous audiobooks clicking right here and heading over to his website. We're super excited about the TFAC audiobooks and I think a lot of you will be more than impressed, we're really pushing the envelope with this new experience.

On the music side of things we hit a creative wall so to speak. We had a plan in place and we're now shifting gears going on another direction. This move did set us back in our calendar but ultimately I think it's for the best. I don't want to get into the details to avoid expectations or conversations about which way would've been better but trust that the team and I are doing our best to share a meaningful musical experience to you all.

Work on the comic books have also continued as you can see from the beginning of this update, I'm still overseeing everything, so it's a lot to work on and I really appreciate all your support and understanding. I will share our calendar again, I'm still keeping the dates as is for now even though I believe they will suffer adjustments but until I have a better grasp on those, I will leave them the same:

• May through late August - Production of the Music Album, the Score and Audio books #1 and #2.
• September - Production complete, we go to press/print. Current estimates are 16-20 weeks but that's actually a moving target depending how busy the lines are and who we end up going with to manufacture the vinyl and CDs.
• Late September - BackerKit Surveys sent to ALL backers <------ MANDATORY to fill them out!
• October - Fulfillment begins just in time for Halloween. Our first step is digital distribution to backers that have completed their BackerKit Surveys.
• December - As announced when the project was launched, this is our physical fulfillment estimated date. As of right now we're still on schedule and most likely to hit it but please be patient if we do need to adjust it for whatever reason.

SAN DIEGO COMIC CON STATUE ANNOUNCEMENT

During SDCC last weekend we announced we're producing an incredible 1/4 Premium format collectible statue by sculptist Eddie Vieira from Brazil! The photo below is of our prototype we had to rush to bring to the convention but it gives you a pretty sweet idea where we are going with it, I hope you all like it!

The finished statue will feature better refined details and will be fully painted as well \o/

Howdy partners!

I wish I had fun stuff to share with you all but truth be told while we did have tons of progress with this project (casting the audio book is almost complete with all the main roles done, we've moved on to smaller ones now) there isn't much I can post here yet.

Songs are still being worked up and very raw and we just started recording both audio books. We will definitely have a new trailer once we have enough done but in the meantime everything we're doing is very much hush-hush at this time.

I will share our calendar one more time though so all of you are up to date how things will progress until fulfillment starts. If you compare this to our proposed dates from back in March there has been slight adjustments but the actual fulfillment is still on track.

PRODUCTION & FULFILLMENT CALENDAR

I can't stress enough how this project is a truly special challenge, it is something we're building up from scratch and navigating all new waters making sure we keep it in the same quality you are all used to the comic books.

New pieces of art and script for the second audio book has been completed!

Hey everyone!

I wasn't really planning on doing another update until next month but I got so excited with the latest pieces of art that came in and finishing up the script for the Audio Book adapting issue #2 of The Crows of Mana'Olana I had to come over.

That's right, Mark Miller and I just finished up the full script for the second audio book that is going to be part of this project. Just a fresh reminder that aside from some exciting music and score, we're producing full on audio books, two of them!

Now that both scripts have been completed we will start casting and then go into the recording booth, I'm so excited to hear my characters come to life \o/

On top of finishing up the scripts I'm also overseeing production of the last pieces of art we still need for the album and CD designs. I had shared already the artwork above in black and white preserving Luke Ross' lines and inking.

Now I present to you the finished piece with colors by the always amazing Clonerh!

Last but not least I also have another exciting piece of art to share. Harvey Tolibao & Ivan Nunes have collaborated many times in the past, including a few TFAC pieces, but I'm stoked to share what's easily among their best artworks.

We're still working very hard on the music side of things and it's been a real challenge but as soon as I have something to share, you'll be the first to hear about it.
